The Office of the Discretionary Support Commissioner
The Office of the Discretionary Support Commissioner is here to give you an opportunity to have your Discretionary Support application reviewed by an independent body.
Our role as independent Inspectors is to ensure that the decision made by the reviewing officer was correct and reasonable within the regulations and guidance governing the scheme. If an error has been made we can change it. As we work within the same regulations and guidance as the Department for Communities, we cannot act outside this legislation.
There are two things we can do with your case
- change the decision the Department has made or
- agree with their decision and not change it.
You will not be disadvantaged by applying for an independent review.
